Blepharitis

Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids, typically involving the part where the eyelashes grow. It is characterized by symptoms such as red, itchy eyelids, flaky skin around the eyes, and, in severe cases, loss of eyelashes. It can be associated with a variety of underlying conditions, including dermatological conditions, bacterial infection, or dysfunction of the meibomian glands. Treatment may involve eyelid hygiene measures, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory medications.

Blepharitis means your eyelids are red, swollen, and itchy, kind of like when you get a rash, but it’s on your eyelids. You might see flakes or crusts near your eyelashes, like dandruff but for your eyes.
