Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a common refractive error caused by an irregular curvature of the cornea or, less commonly, the lens of the eye. This irregular shape prevents light from focusing properly on the retina, leading to blurred or distorted vision at any distance. It often occurs in combination with other refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness). Diagnosis involves a comprehensive eye examination, including keratometry or corneal topography to measure the curvature of the cornea’s surface.

Astigmatism is when your eye is not perfectly round, making things look blurry or wobbly because light doesn’t focus right inside your eye. It’s like if your eye was shaped more like a football than a soccer ball.
