Ptosis refers to the drooping of the upper eyelid, which can affect one or both eyes. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including nerve damage, muscle diseases, congenital (present at birth) conditions, or the natural aging process. Ptosis can interfere with vision if the eyelid falls low enough to cover part of the pupil. Treatment options range from wearing special glasses that hold the eyelid up to surgical correction.
Ptosis is when your upper eyelid sags or droops down over your eye. It can make it hard to see if it covers your eye too much. Sometimes doctors can do surgery to fix it.
